A Mountain of Social Media Marketing
We took a trek through the Alberta Rockies to deliver our new social media workshop.
+Republic spent a morning with Centre staff at the beautiful Goldeye Centre near Nordegg, Alberta, reviewing the finer points of building, deploying, and operating a social media campaign. The interactive workshop covered everything from the broad context of what social media is and why organizations need to embrace it, to the narrow specifics of when, how often, and on what platform to post. Some of the other topics included:
- The expanding role of social media in our lives and how to get involved
- Content creation and curation
- Engagement vs. self-promotion
- Crisis communications in a social media context
- Social campaign analysis and metrics
Those in the know understand that social media isn’t about lecturing at an audience. That’s why we made it a point to make the workshop experience as interactive and social as new media itself. And since pictures and video are the preferred social content on most social media platforms, we were certain to include plenty of visual aids to help make it all make sense. With directed goal, engagement, audience, and content-authoring modules, the three-hour social media primer gave the Goldeye staff both a bird’s eye view and up-close and personal of the possibilities of social media marketing.
